Hi, nice to meet you
I am Tierra Matthews.
I am a Chicago-based actress and singer who is orginally from the Sooner State, Oklahoma! I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Oklahoma City University (OCU) with a degree in Theatre and a minor in Mass Communications in May of 2022. I am a diligent, disciplined, and passionate actor with a yearning for staged theatre and on-camera acting! My credits from OCU include School For Lies (Celimine), Scissoring (Elaine), and The Last Daughter (V.I.P.).
While at OCU, I was trained in various acting styles such as Anton Chekhov and Shakespeare. I worked with professors who taught me about movement and how to use my vocal instrument as an actor. I've trained in several dance styles such as tap, jazz, and theatre dance. I've also acquired six years of vocal training. When I’m not imagining myself on the big screen, I’m watching it, catching up on my favorite reality shows! I love sipping extra sweet iced coffees, psychological horror films and
re-watching The Office (specifically season 4, even more specifically episode 13). In addition to acting, you can catch me obsessing over stationery, finding different ways to pamper myself, or justifying the purchase of another pair of fuzzy socks for my collection.

“Of course, we all come to the theatre with baggage. … But if our hearts get opened and released — well that is what theatre can do, and does sometimes, and everyone is thankful when
that happens.”
— Vanessa Redgrave

ARTIST MISSION
During my time at Oklahoma City University, I had the amazing opportunity to explore my personal definition of brave spaces in theatre. I discovered that safe, brave spaces are equally as important as the 'work'. For me, these surroundings and production processes were the homes to infinite laughs, trust, and respect, theatre essentials. It was the easiest to be my best self for my castmates when the 'room' allowed space for benevolence and reflection. I strive to bring that internal warmth into the art I perform and the relationships made.
I believe that actors are the reflection of the world around them, to document history through the stories we tell. It is within our responsibilities to speak for the voiceless, to represent those who feel unseen.
